Set in an alternate 1950's America, witches, demons, and magic are real. Oliver, a bitter incubus, is accidentally summoned by Ava, a very forgetful witch, as her Familiar. Together, they must explore the far reaches of the world to obtain rare components to complete the ritual that would break their bond, setting Oliver free.

However, their adventure doesn't come without a price. A group known as Harvesters are hunting witches like Ava down, and their leader seems to have taken an interest in the pair. Oliver and Ava must learn to work together while avoiding the Harvesters at all costs to see their journey through to the end.

"Bad Luck" is a horror/comedy graphic novel series, published through Oceaniacom Press. "Bad Luck" is also in production for a Spin-Off graphic novel series called "Bad Luck: Chronicles" to allow further exploration and diversity among the story and characters.

"Bad Luck" begins with our main two protagonists Ava and Oliver. Ava is a scatter-brained but heartwarming witch while Oliver is a narcissistic and snarky incubus.

The prime threat to Ava and her fellow witches is a global group called The Harvesters. They've been slowly building their organization and recruiting members for the eradication of witches for ten years or more. However, a darker and newfound villain is making his appearance, a powerful demon called Sebastian. Though his goals are unexplained currently, The Harvesters and Ava have recently caught his attention

This isn't limited to only Ava and Oliver. Anytime a witch summons a Familiar, a bond is formed between them. There are pros and cons to this bond such as amplified magic but it also has its drawbacks. One of them being the limited range between the witch and Familiar, if they're separated too far, it'll cause excruciating, torturous pain to the witch. The pain has been known to outright cause cardiac arrest to witches in the past, causing death, which in turn sends the Familiar into non-existence.

Currently, we are halfway through the first graphic novel installment. However, once it's completed it'll be available through our publisher Oceaniacom Press. After it's made available, links and more information will be shared.

"Bad Luck" is co-created by the dynamic duo team of Jaxon Joubert and Alethea Van Holland. They're childhood friends and have collaborated on many stories together in the past, however "Bad Luck" is the first of their stories they decided to pursue into an established series.

In it's infancy, "Bad Luck" was a fevered concept from Alethea Van Holland. She had been inspired by animations such as Magi, Invader Zim, and Kiki's Delivery Service. While she had the initial setting, main characters, The Harvesters, and the foundation determined it was fully fleshing out the world and culminating a true threat she was having difficulty with. Bringing the project to Jaxon, it was decided they would work on it as a team as Jaxon's input, research, original characters, and many of his contributions were added into the comic.

"Bad Luck" is traditionally sketched on DELETER Manga Paper. Then it's digitally painted/inked in art software such as Photoshop CS5 and/or Clip Studio Paint, using an iPad or Cintiq Companion 2 as digital utensils.

"Bad Luck: Chronicles" will feature a couple of new characters, who will be introduced in the original "Bad Luck" series. "Chronicles" will be released after the original series of "Bad Luck" Chapter 5. It will take place during the same time as the original "Bad Luck" as this pair helps gather the rare artifacts to break Ava's and Oliver's bond while encountering The Harvesters.

"Bad Luck: Chronicles" will be centered new arcs, cameos of Ava & Oliver, and some other familiar faces. It'll allow us to further explore the world building, various cultures, and more of the environment of "Bad Luck."
